Steinway StartToFinish Restoration – Model “C” Mahogany Polish Serial No: 81101 Manufactured 1894

Piano on the day of pickup for restoration! Pickup Day! Taking the piano apart. Before repair of severly damaged legs. Repair of severely damaged legs Repaired and finished leg. Original fallboard decal before replacement. Fallboard decal replaced to match original. Original lyre with nickel plated pedals and lyre rods. Lyre refinished with newly plated pedals and lyre rods. Rim of piano stripped and being prepared for refinishing. Original soundboard removed and new soundboard installed Rim of oiano without soundboard. Fitting ribs to inner rim. Ribs fitted and shaped to inner rim. New soundboard clamped to inner rim. New soundboard and bridges. Original damper guide rails before rebushing. Damper guide rails finished and rebushed. Damper heads prepped for finishing. Original damper heads refinished. Original pinblock removed from piano. New pinblock fitted to flange of plate. New pinblock and soundboard. Notching new bridges Notching new bridges Cleaning of original keyframe and installation of new key pins and front and balance rail punchings Key frame cleaned with new key pins and punchings. Underneath side of piano before painting and restoration of trapwork. Underneath of piano painted. Trapwork levers cleaned rebushed and leather replaced. Prepping piano plate for refinishing. Plate refinished and hand stenciled. Steinway logo before refinishing. Hand stenciled Steinway logo on plate. Letter and serial number applied to plate. Hard to see soundboard decal underneath years of dust. Piano strung with dampers installed Decal on original soundboard. New soundboard decasl applied to new soundboard. Duplication of new back action. Installation of new back action Key sticks sanded and cleaned with new backchecks installed. Installing new repetitions. New shanks and flanges installed to action rail. Installing new hammers to shanks. New action installed All new action parts assembled and regulated. New let off buttons, screws and punchings. New keytops. Piano back together! Piano fitted with hand made leather buttons Piano completed and delivered Piano with matching artist bench. Piano keytops recovered to finish off this beatiful instument!
